Carbonaceous products

Carbonaceous products are another kind of neutral refractories. They are divided into three categories: carbon bricks, graphite products and silicon carbide products according to the mineral composition of carbon containing raw materials and products. Carbon bricks are made of high grade petroleum coke, with tar and asphalt as adhesives, which are burned at 1300 degrees centigrade. Graphite products (except natural graphite) are made of carbonaceous material in electric furnace by graphitization at 2500~2800 degrees C. Silicon carbide products are made of SiC as raw material, with clay, silica and other adhesives at 1350~1400 C. Silicon carbide and silicon carbide can also be made from silicon carbide and silicon powder in the nitrogen atmosphere of the electric furnace.
